1 - Tell us a little about yourself, your profession and your routine (to understand the context of your life, profession, expenses)

Well, I work in digital marketing, 100% remotely, which allows me to spend time with my children, which for many is tiring, but for me it is a privilege. My wife has a more intense work schedule than mine, so I am left with the task of taking care of them. So speaking of routine, in the morning I pay attention to them and in the afternoon I focus on my work while they are at school.

Every day we make food at home and they bring a snack to school, which helps me not to spend too much on eating out, which is more expensive. On the weekends we eat one of the meals out or through Ifood, just to diversify.

2 - Do you try to organize your daily expenses in any way? If so, how? (to understand organizational methods, tools such as notebooks, notes, Excel, etc.)

Yes, I use two points as an organizational strategy. First, we buy everything with a credit card, absolutely everything, and we focus on using as few cards as possible. Second, I have a text file on my cell phone where I write down all my expenses, and I open it on my cell phone at the time of purchase.

3 - What challenges do you face when trying to keep track of your spending? How do you feel when you come across these challenges?

Well, the annoying part about using this tool to keep track of spending is that it's not very practical. Even though I open the file on my phone, I have to stop, make a few clicks, write down the amount of the purchase and classify it into a category (for example, drugstore or supermarket), and sometimes I'm in a hurry, or I simply can't write it down at the moment, so I have to keep in mind the task of writing it down later.

There are also cases where it's a very small purchase, like a candy for my kids that cost 8 reais, so I don't even realize that I need to write it down.

Another problem is that I just write it down, but I don't calculate anything, so I don't know how much I've already spent that month, or how much I spend on each category.

4 - Do you have any suggestions on how to solve these challenges? Or at least improve them?

I think that if I had more automatic access to this tool where I record my expenses, it would be easier to keep track, with predefined elements, buttons, whatever, that I could just click and the record would be made.

In addition, it could automatically calculate how much I spent the moment I assigned that expense to a predefined category.

5 - Is there anything else you would like to say that I didn't ask?

No, I think I've said everything.
